A Fine Art Print is a wonderful opportunity to bring a bright and expressive artwork into your home—especially when you’re not looking to purchase an original. If you’re interested in a high-quality reproduction of one of my paintings, simply get in touch with me. ABOUT

There is so much good all around us. Beauty is right there — we only need to slow down and look.
This belief has stayed with me for many years and shapes my life as much as my art. Not everything unfolds as planned. Not everything can be understood right away.
There are moments when we fall deep — and moments when we rise again.
Yet even in moments of stillness, of transition, of new beginnings, there is still something valuable and wonderful to be found. That is why I am drawn to color and light — in art, and in life.
Behind my work lies a journey. You’re welcome to step beyond the canvas.
My life turned out quite different from what I imagined and wished for as a girl — completely different. When I look at my résumé today, I sometimes smile. Because ever since I can remember, there should have been an art degree listed, right after high school. Especially after Africa. And back then, I was even accepted into the art academy right away.

I was born in a small southern European country of the former Soviet Union, as daughter of my german father and my russian mother, raised between cultures with my little brother — loved and protected, shaped by movement, change, and new beginnings. I learned early on not to attach myself to places, but to atmospheres. Home, for me, is not a point on a map — it’s a feeling. It’s the connection to what lives in my heart.

One day, as a young European woman, I flew south to the equator. To the warm days of East Africa, to the positive, joyful, humble, and gracious people there, with the rich colors everywhere, the original creativity, the delicious fruits, the stunning landscapes, the fascinating wildlife, and the charming flip-flop culture. In that place, I discovered a tropical world full of color, exotic flavors, natural beauty, and people with a kind, unhurried way of life. I lived and worked in the middle of it all. That long stay inspired and shaped me. And that latitude, that climate zone, became my place of longing to this day. Sun, palm trees, ocean.

A few years later, my journey led me back to the equator, this time on the other side of the world. After a project in the South American tropics, my love for the jungle and the Caribbean was born. As well as my interest in Latin American culture. I had always liked its cheerful and lively music, but now I discovered it consciously — the joyful, open, energetic people, their beautiful Spanish language, their unhurried way of living in the moment, truely savoring the moment, and the breathtaking natural and urban landscapes with their colorful, exotic animal and plant life.

I love immersing myself in this world — it radiates so much positive, motivating energy and joy, the kind that feels like soft sunlight on the skin and the delicate shimmer of water in the background.

And as it is with artists :) — whatever inspires me, moves me, touches me, eventually finds its way onto my canvas.

I paint emotions. Atmospheres. Memories.

I paint freedom, longing, and the warm glow of the tropical worlds. Sometimes as if I’m seeing them through a window, sometimes as if I’m standing or walking there, and sometimes as if I’m flying above that painted world, wings spread wide.
My art is mostly a quiet place in the noise of the world.
A space that breathes. A moment that tells a story.

It is my language.

Beautiful Glimpse into Other Worlds
"I love Kayana’s paintings — I have made two of them my own. They are so deeply rooted in the here and now, and yet they carry me into another world where I can dream, let go, and allow my thoughts to flow. Each painting has that certain something for me — something that makes it special, outstanding, and subtly individual. It is a joy for me to get to know her both in real life and through her artworks — everything just feels perfectly in harmony. She puts so much thought into details, and I truly appreciate that."

Your questions to me
What makes Kayana Art special?

My works are shaped by personal experiences, longings, travel, and attentive observation. They bring together tropical sensuality—experienced through all senses—with depth, emotion, and moments of stillness, and at times subtle tension (in progress). Created for those who seek art not merely as decoration, but as something to be felt.
What kind of art do you create?
My work spans a wide emotional range. Many of my paintings unite visual beauty with emotional depth, inviting the viewer in while offering space for reflection. Some pieces exist primarily as atmospheric, decorative works. Others are less concerned with decoration and more focused on depth — on emotion, transformation, and experiences that can be moving, challenging, or quietly powerful. This deeper, more introspective direction has become increasingly central to my recent and ongoing work, always carried by light and shadows, color, and a sense of beauty.
Some works are signed K.Dyck — why is that?
Katharina is the beautiful name my mother gave me, in honor of her beloved mother-in-law. Some of my earlier works are signed with my maiden name. Later, my last name changed to Dyck. Ultimately, as an artist and as a person, I am simply myself. Over time, this is how Kayana came into being — a name that reflects all of me, a name of the heart, rooted in family and heritage.
Does your name have a meaning?
Kayana reflects my first name and my familial roots. It is formed from letters connected to my enduring family and cultural heritage. At the same time, it carries the sound of my personality — my sensitivity, my sense of optimism, and the resonance of my tropical world.
Can I commission a custom artwork from you?
Yes — from time to time. Commissions depend on the nature of the request and my current availability.
You’re welcome to get in touch, and we can discuss your idea and explore what is possible. Commissioned works are created in close dialogue with you and your desired theme. Each piece is a personal process, takes time, and is carried out with the same dedication and care as my independent works.
What is the quality of the materials you use for your artworks?
I place great value on high-quality materials. Quality and longevity are essential to me and are an integral part of my artistic practice. Today, I work on professionally prepared canvases with a dense weave and solid wooden frames. I primarily use professional-grade acrylic and oil paints from established artist brands, as well as selected oil and the Horadam watercolor paints by Schminke. I work intuitively with brushes and palette knives, depending on the desired effect. I also enjoy working with mixed media, often using unconventional tools to create interesting textures. Varnish is applied by agreement with the collector. Some of my earlier works were painted during a formative phase of my artistic development, using high-quality paints on more modest supports. Several of these works hold a particularly strong place within my overall body of work. Their intensity, expression, and emotional clarity make them key pieces that continue to define my artistic language to this day. As an experienced gallerist once shared with me: a compelling artwork retains its meaning regardless of its medium. I share this perspective — Today, I consciously choose materials that reflect the level and direction of my current work.
How do I find the artwork that’s right for me?
You’re invited to trust your intuition. If you wish, I’m happy to support you in the selection process — intuitively, with a trained eye and an honest perspective, always considering your space, your personal style, and the atmosphere you’d like to create.
Does this gallery show all of the works you offer, or are there more?
This gallery presents a curated selection of works that are currently available.
I often work on several pieces in parallel, and at any given time, a number of additional works are in progress. Once completed, new works are first shared with my newsletter community before they may later become available here in the gallery.
What’s the best way to care for my painting?
Direct sunlight and high humidity should be avoided. For cleaning, a very soft, dry cloth is sufficient — if needed, it may be slightly damp. Upon request, I apply a protective varnish layer to the painting before delivery.
Where can I see your work in person?
You’ll find information about current exhibitions and presentations on my website and across my social media channels.
What happens after purchasing a painting?
Thank you very much for your interest in my art. Fine art prints are delivered directly to your home and are currently shipped at no cost to you. Your original artwork will be ready for you at my studio. I’d be happy to arrange a personal appointment so we can take our time with the handover — perhaps over a coffee — and you can collect your piece in person, carefully and securely packaged by me on site. Of course, you will receive a certificate of authenticity with your artwork. If collecting the piece in person is not convenient, I can arrange insured shipping upon request. Shipping costs depend on the destination, the size of the artwork, and, if applicable, the type of packaging — for example, if the piece is shipped in a custom wooden crate.
